Asking for help…
We recognise that when you come to see us it will have been after some careful thought. Understandably, many people feel anxious talking about their personal lives to someone they aren’t familiar with. We will aim to put you at ease by providing an empathic, independent, non-judgemental space to talk about your problems.
What to expect when you get in touch with us
Firstly, we’ll get in touch via email or telephone conversation to get a few more details and to make sure that working with Oxford Clinical Psychology is the best way to tackle the difficulties you’re experiencing. It can often be helpful to give some thought as to the reasons that you have gotten in touch with OCP – this will direct where we focus the initial assessment.
Next Steps…
If working with us is the right next step for you we’ll schedule an initial appointment, which is an opportunity for us to gain a fuller and more in-depth understanding of your situation and also for you to get a feel for how it will be to work together.
Once we have a better understanding of the challenges you are facing, we will spend time working together to understand how you have come to this point in your life and how you could manage things in a way that works better for you. Coming to see us will provide you with the space to think about making changes and we will support to carry out any changes when you feel ready.
Towards the end of the assessment session we will provide recommendations for work we think would be beneficial based on the information you have given us. Going forward we will work with you to manage the challenges you are experiencing.
